Bethesda-Chevy Chase Restaurant Week: Meet Chef Domenico Cornacchia

Originally from Valle Castellana in central Italy, Chef Domenico Cornacchia began his career in the kitchen as an apprentice preparing fresh pastas by hand at age 12.

Cornacchia refined his skills by traveling and working in kitchens in Northern Italy, Switzerland, and Southern France. Later he made his way to the states: New York City, Las Vegas and Southern California before becoming a corporate executive chef at Café Milano in Georgetown.

“I worked at Café Milano for 16 years and then decided to start my own restaurant called Assaggi which means tastings in Italian. The concept of my menu was based on people sharing an assortment of items that can be ordered in smaller portions,” Chef Cornacchia said.
