And the Winner of the Maryland Regional Middle School Science Bowl Competition is ….

Patriots Technology Training Center in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy was proud to host the 6th Annual Maryland Regional Middle School Science Bowl - a math and science competition for middle school students.  With the nation’s focus on energy independence and sustainability, it’s important to promote the benefits of science and math among middle school youth.

On Saturday, March 12, at Kenmoor Middle School, in Landover, MD, Takoma Park (Team 1) competed against 19 teams and won the title for the fourth consecutive year.  Middle school and home school teams from across the Maryland Region participated in this annual, two-part competition: a fast-paced question-and-answer tournament designed to test students' knowledge in life, physical and earth sciences and mathematics and a hydrogen fuel cell car competition that challenges students to design, build, and race model cars.  As the winning team, Takoma Park (Team 1), earned an all expense paid trip to the Science Bowl Nationals in Washington, DC to compete with students across the country.
