Broken gas line in Bethesda prompts evacuations

BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA9) -- Residents of a Bethesda neighborhood were evacuated after a construction crew broke a high pressure gas line, according to Montgomery County Fire Officials.

The break happened in the 4800 block of Montgomery Lane, the area has been closed off.

About 30 people were evacuated and relocated to the Bethesda Library, according to fire officials. Some residents sheltered in place.

Woodmont Avenue is blocked at Montgomery Lane.

The Montgomery County Hazmat unit is also responding to the scene.
