Test for Obama after complaining of sore throat
News

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) - The White House says President Barack Obama is getting some medical tests at a military hospital just outside Washington after complaining of a sore throat.

Press secretary Josh Ernest says that Obama's doctor, Ronny Jackson, suggested that the president go to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, for some diagnostic tests.

The White House says that according to the doctor, Obama's quickly scheduled test is a matter of convenience - not a matter of urgency - and the spokesman notes that the president had some free time in his schedule Saturday afternoon.

The White House promises to provide updates.

The 53-year-old Obama had a physical exam in May and was said to be in excellent health.
