The murder trial of Brittany Norwood (State v. Brittany Norwood) began this Monday morning before Judge Robert Greenberg in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland.
Brittany Norwood is charged with attacking and killing her coworker, Jayna Murray last spring inside of the popular Bethesda yoga store.
Judge Greenberg asked for an “in camera” proceeding before the jury is selected. This means that each juror will be called into Judge Greenberg’s chambers for a one-on-one questioning session by him and the lawyers in the case.
"This is very unusual that a judge would question jurors individually in his chambers. He is being very cautious with this prospective jury to make sure that not one person is contaminated by a biased remark," explained Bethesda attorney, Jim Shalleck, who in his 40 years of practicing law has never seen this proceeding before.
