Cruisin' on the River Classic Car & Truck Show

Lovers of custom and classic cars and trucks make your way to National Harbor for the Second Annual CRUISIN' ON THE RIVER on Saturday, August 6TH (rain date: Sunday, August 7th) from 10am to 5pm along the Potomac River.

You'll enjoy over a hundred unique vehicles on display along the piers and our waterfront parking lot.

Plus, throughout the day enjoy the oldies sounds of DC Motors (11am to 1pm and Apple Core (2pm to 4pm).

According to William Pentland of Forbes,  the U.S. National Science Foundation has created a compelling taxonomy of American geeks for gathering the data it includes in its annual “Science and Engineering Indicators” report. In this report, Bethesda, Maryland was listed in the Top 10!

County Executive Ike Leggett to Discuss Trip to Morazan, El Salvador

On Wednesday, July 3rd at 11 a.m., County Executive Ike Leggett, Councilmember George Leventhal, Maryland State Delegate Ana Sol Gutierrez and former Congresswoman Connie Morella discussed their trip to El Salvador last week at The Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD.

They traveled with a group of 70 volunteers, business leaders and county officials on an eight-day mission to Morazan, located in the eastern part of the country.  All of the participants paid their own way.

The officials forged a Sister City agreement with Morazan, and worked to identify ways that Montgomery County can help Morazan with such issues as housing, education, and economic development.

This Sunday July 31 at 8PM, CONQUERING THE ROSE, a feature-length independent drama will screen at the Cinema Arts Theatre in Fairfax. The film tells the story of how the death of Etta Callahan, a young dance student, affects the lives of those closest to her. CONQUERING THE ROSE is written and produced by local actress and filmmaker Jenna St. John, who adapted the screenplay from her novel. The film is directed by J. Michael Whalen, making his feature directorial debut. Award winning actor, George Katt, stars as Jeremiah Mouthy, an artist and teacher who becomes obsessed with Etta following her death.

Shot in locations from Alexandria to Baltimore, CONQUERING THE ROSE, employed cast and crew from D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, including yours truly. I play psychologist Blake Johnson in what is the biggest role of my acting career. So come out Sunday night to see me run the emotional triathlon. It’s just $6!

Strathmore Goes for Guinness World Record at UkeFest 2011

 

Ukulele players of all ages and experience levels will pluck, pick and strum their way to a Guinness World Record at Strathmore’s third annual UkeFest on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 beginning at 7 p.m. In addition to an evening of live performances by local uke aficionados, Strathmore will attempt to convene more than 851 intrepid uke players and curious community members to use the tiny ukulele to surmount a monumental task – beat the world record for Largest Ukulele Ensemble at its most popular summer concert of the season.
