On Wednesday, July 3rd at 11 a.m., County Executive Ike Leggett, Councilmember George Leventhal, Maryland State Delegate Ana Sol Gutierrez and former Congresswoman Connie Morella discussed their trip to El Salvador last week at The Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD.

They traveled with a group of 70 volunteers, business leaders and county officials on an eight-day mission to Morazan, located in the eastern part of the country.  All of the participants paid their own way.

The officials forged a Sister City agreement with Morazan, and worked to identify ways that Montgomery County can help Morazan with such issues as housing, education, and economic development.

Others participating in the mission included 14 members of the Montgomery County branch of Habitat for Humanity who are building homes; and members of the group, MoverMoms – mothers and children who are doing community service at a school and at a maternity center.
