Hollywood producer and co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival with actor Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal will illustrate how film can inspire social change for women and girls at an event celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Tikkun Olam Women’s Foundation of Greater Washington (TOWF).

The event, Wine, Women, and Film: Social Change Through Cinema, will take place on November 29th, 7:00 p.m.at the Round House Theater in Bethesda, MD. Tickets can be purchased at http://towf.org/winewomenfilm.

Named as one of Barron’s Top 25 Philanthropists of the Year and featured in Variety’s “Women in Entertainment” issues, Rosenthal is known for her effective philanthropy, having created initiatives such as the Tribeca Film Institute and multiple youth educational programs.

TOWF is a grantmaking organization dedicated to creating social change for women and girls.  Celebrating five years of making grants, it is the only Jewish giving vehicle in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area that offers women a voice and a vote in supporting causes that result in lasting change in the lives of women and girls. TOWF has awarded $270,000 in grants.

“We know that money alone does not bring about change,” said Kerry Iris, co-chair of the foundation. “When people with a common goal meet at events such as our Wine, Women, and Film celebration, they form an alliance to focus their collective power on a movement. Movements make change happen and that is when we know we have made an impact.”

Among the 19 organizations receiving support from TOWF are the Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse, Women Lawyers for Social Justice, and Tenants and Workers United: Inquilinos y Trabajadores Unidos.
